Nevada Animals That Can Live in the Attic

During the winter season, the Las Vegas animals will be looking for shelter that will provide them with warmth and security. Our attic will be an excellent refuge for these animals during the cold months. The attics have an ideal level of temperature that saves them from the effect of the harsh weather. It also has an insulation that the animal can use as nesting materials.

Types of Animals That Can Be Found in the Attic
You should never wait until the damages in your attic are already irreversible before you take the necessary action. By knowing which animal is causing damages in your attic, you will be able to formulate an all-inclusive control plan.

Squirrel
Perhaps the most common animal in the attic would be the furry Las Vegas squirrel. They may appear cute and adorable but the damages they can cause would be like the mice and rats. They can easily access a hole that is around 1 ½ inches in terms of diameter. Stay alert on the signs of their presence such as their droppings that appears like a brown grain. You may also notice scattered nesting materials such as twigs, leaves, and papers.

Raccoons
The raccoons are adept climbers and can easily tear up the screens and shingles with their sharp claws and teeth. They can squeeze their body through a tiny gap, cracks, and crevices. They are larger compared to the usual nuisance creatures in your attic. You will notice that the strange noises that they will create will be more audible. They tend to leave debris on their paths. Their droppings will be around the same size of the cat’s feces but with remains of insects. In case you noticed that your insulation has been disturbed, then this can be a possible raccoon infestation.

Rats
The rats are pesky critters that prefer to live close to the humans. Therefore, you will usually find them thriving in the urban jungle and not on the wild habitat. With their incredible climbing skills, they will be able to climb just about any structures and that includes our attic. They can use an insignificant hole as an access point. With their reproduction skill, your situation can easily turn into a full-blown infestation. They will accumulate a large pile of droppings that will make your house unsafe.

Snakes
Snakes can also end up inside your attic. They are silent visitors, and they can live in our attic for months without being detected. The best sign of their presence would be the shed snakeskin. When driving them away from your property, it is best to hire the professionals especially if you have no way to determine the venomous from the non-venomous type of snakes.

There are variety of animals that can establish their den in our attic. Apart from the animals mention above, you can also encounter opossum, birds, and bats. Getting rid of them and doing simple home modification will help you mitigate the effect of the animal infestation.
